Amanda Hood is

an Australian comedy writer and director based in New York City.

Amanda’s films have screened at major film festivals including Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF), Flickerfest, St Kilda, as well as on Virgin Airlines, Sky Television (UK), RAI TV (Italy) and NHK (Japan).

Amanda began her career making documentaries for the BBC, then freelanced on feature films, TV series and commercials before falling in love with improv comedy.

Amanda won the Australian Director's Guild Metroscreen Fellowship and was a finalist in the Page Awards, where her feature script Baby Boomers placed in the top 10 (comedy category) out of more than 6,000 screenplays from around the world.

Amanda was selected to shadow two A-List Australian directors: Oscar-nominated Bruce Beresford on Ladies in Black (Sony Pictures) and Erin White on Paper Dolls (Paramount TV).

Amanda is currently in post-production on her musical comedy web series New York Benchwarmers which was shot entirely on location throughout NYC.
