Amanda Hood is

an Australian comedy writer and director based in New York City.

Amanda’s films have screened at major film festivals including Melbourne International Film Festival, Flickerfest, St Kilda, as well as on Virgin Airlines, Sky TV (UK), RAI TV (Italy) and NHK TV (Japan).

Amanda began her career making documentaries for the BBC, then freelanced on feature films and TV series before falling in love with improv comedy.

Amanda won the Australian Director's Guild Metroscreen Fellowship and was flown to Los Angeles to pitch her original projects to Sony, Fox TV, Mosaic, WME, MarVista and Anonymous Content.

Amanda recently shadowed two A-List directors: Erin White on Paper Dolls (Paramount) and Oscar-nominated Bruce Beresford on Ladies in Black (Sony Pictures).

Amanda’s feature script Baby Boomers was a finalist in the Page International Screenwriting Awards and placed in the top 10 (comedy category) out of more than 6,000 scripts from around the world.
